we get word now that a seventh grade student may have revolutionized the solar cell. Does anyone else find this absolutely amazing? It even appears to be true. If a twelve year old's mind is that developed at this point, what next, a thirteen year old will discover a cure for cancer? Here is how the story goes:
William Yuan, a seventh-grader from Portland, OR, has developed a three-dimensional solar cell that absorbs UV and visible light. The combination of the two could greatly improve cell efficiency. William's project has earned him a $25,000 scholarship and a trip to the Library of Congress to accept the award, which is usually given out for research at the graduate level.
Like I said, amazing.
